Books or journal articles not in the collections of the Wilson Dental may be obtained through interlibrary borrowing from other libraries by USC faculty, students, and staff of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. This service is an effective way to expand sources of biomedical information for patient care, biomedical research, and education. Individuals must be current Wilson Dental Library cardholders to request interlibrary borrowing. Items may be requested
- via DocRetriever (the preferred method)
- by e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org
Processing is expedited when the requester supplies complete bibliographic information: author(s) and title of the document, date, volume, issue, and page numbers as well as a reference to the source (i.e., the database, book, or journal article which cited the item). A Wilson staff member or librarian verifies the accuracy of the information, provides additional information when necessary, and determines the source from which the item may be obtained.
Materials generally are provided within 2-3 working days but may not be available for up to four weeks, depending upon the availability of the publication, the speed of the lending library in responding to the request, and the accuracy of the bibliographic information supplied by the requester. Requesters are notified by email when materials arrive at Wilson Dental Library.
Books are sent in the original and journal articles are usually in pdf. Books generally may be retained for two weeks. Books are not renewable.
